July 1 was pretty low key for us this year since Jayna, Kepler and I just got home from Ontario the night before. We had dinner with Brett and Jenny and then last minute I decided to take Jayna to see the fireworks. I had to wake her up to go, since they didn't start until 11 pm. (
more proof that we live in the North Pole, it doesn't get dark in the summer until 11)
I thought she was going to love them and be so excited, I should have known better.

At first she was just startled by the loud noise, and I thought she would get used to it after a couple minutes. But she just kept getting more and more scared.

She kept saying "I'm scared, I don't like fireworks!" "I want to go home now." or "I want to go back to bed!" and "I don't like this, can we go home?"

Poor girl, once the tears started I knew she was not going to get used to them, at least not this year.

So we just packed up and headed home. Oh well, at least we beat all the traffic getting out of there!
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
