Bookworms

We are a family of bookworms, we all love to read. Half the time when the house goes quiet all of a sudden and I have to go searching for my kids, worried about what they might be up to, I find them sitting in Jayna's room reading books. Sometimes Jayna is reading to Kepler and sometimes they're reading separately.
I love it when I find them like this, especially since we all know what the alternative is ;)

Gibb set up the tent for the kids to play in this week-end, and this morning this is how I found them. With their chairs set up beside each other reading, love it!
This is how Jayna entertains her little brother when I ask her to keep him busy for a few minutes, and she's getting pretty good at memorizing the books too.

tonight

Usually I dread the nights when Gibb works late. Well usually I dread the hours of 4-6 pm every night, but especially when Gibb's not home. But tonight the kids were so good and we had a really fun night.

The kids played on their "slide fort" for half an hour while I made dinner.
(And I found a recipe online that I happened to have all the ingredients for and it turned out good!)

And then they ATE THEIR DINNER! Just this alone would have made it a great night! Jayna ate a whole bowl of taco soup and Kepler ate 3 bowls!

My kids are already neat freaks, they must get it from their Grandma's ;) They freak out if their is the tiniest speck of dirt in the tub. (Not that I really blame them because half the time it means that Kepler pooped in the bath again) Now there is a chip on the bottom of the bathtub and the last 2 nights Kepler has not wanted to stay in the tub because he's just pointing and yelling "dirty, dirty!" But I think tonight he understood that it's just broken.
Oh yeah, and then he really did poop in the tub, and freaked out even more.

After baths they played on their homemade balance beam Gibb set up from an old shelf, while I cleaned the kitchen.

They were both so good and playing so well together. And I really enjoy making dinner and cleaning up when I don't have 2 munchkins whining, crying and begging to be held the whole time!

Then we had a good easy bedtime, with no nagging, fighting, bribing, etc.

I love nights like tonight. I wish I could bottle it up, save it and then bring it out again on a night when I really need it...like last night.
