Scared of thunder

We've been having the worst weather the last few weeks, tons of rain and not very hot. Last week-end the high for the day was 10C. Jayna keeps asking me if we can have hot chocolate to warm up. It doesn't even really feel like summer anymore. It's kind of depressing to be honest, but since no one really wants to hear about that, here are the couple times we were able to enjoy the storms.

One of the only good things about living in a construction zone

Jayna has this new face she makes all the time, it's so funny! I don't know where she got it from, but she usually just makes it when she feels embarrassed or uncomfortable or doesn't know what to say. I'm so glad I happened to catch it on camera.

There was a huge thunder storm and it hailed so much it looked like it had snowed. Kepler and Jayna were both scared of the storm. Kepler wouldn't let me put him down or open the door because he was scared the storm would come inside. He kept saying "Mommy, I scared of thunder!"

When Gibb got home he collected a bunch of hail and put it in the sink for the kids to play in. Random, I know, but this is what happens when it's supposed to be summer and you're desperate for fun.

snowboarding

Jayna: "Mommy, do you know what my best, best, best thing to do is? Snowboarding!"

Kepler's face here made me laugh

I think it had turned into a dance party at this point, not really sure

MIA

I think I should just officially quit blogging every summer. I feel like I don't want to miss out on any of the fun and hot weather by taking time to blog. Last summer I didn't blog at all and this summer I haven't been much better. I think I've only taught my primary class twice all summer, we've been gone a lot. And without going into any detail I'll just say it's been an interesting summer. Usually I never it want it to end, but I don't know if I'll be that sad for summer to end this year.

The lastest adventure for me this summer was getting dental implants placed on Friday. I still had 2 baby teeth that were going to have come out at some point, and the best (and scariest) option was to get the implants done. I knew I was going to have to do this, since this is the whole reason I got braces, but I've just been trying to not think about it too much.

I am pretty much terrified of the dentist and needles. And this experience totally lived up to all my fears. Luckily I got sedated for the procedure, and I can safely say that if I hadn't there is no way I would have gone through with it.

needles in the rough of my mouth + drilling metal into my bone = one of the scariest/most painful experiences ever

So this week-end was a little rough recovering from that, but Gibb was off all week-end and Monday to help out, and I'm feeling a lot better today. I just really hope that it's all worth it in the end and that the nightmares about having to get more needles end soon.

Okay, now I feel like I need to end this post with a a couple disclaimers.

1. We've done a lot of fun stuff this summer and got to see lots of family and friends, which has been great.
2. Gibb is a great dentist, and he did not do my surgery this week-end. The dentist he works for did it, and he did a great job. But that doesn't really make it any less traumatic.
