Great Grandma

Kepler met his first Great Grandparent a few days ago. Great Grandma Gibb, who is Gibb's grandma. Kepler is lucky to have a lot of his great grandparents still living and hopefully he'll get to meet Great Grandma & Grandpa Jensen (my grandparents) at the end of July.

Grandma Gibb was so happy that we brought Kepler over to meet her, and she said that the little tiny babies are just her size to hold. Too bad they get big so fast!

Another thumb sucker!

This is how I found Kepler in his swing a few days ago, I was so surprised!

Not so much that he was sucking his thumb, since Jayna sucks her thumb, but that he could get it to his mouth and keep it there at 3 days old! Jayna couldn't get her thumb in her mouth until she was over 2 months old.

Big Sister

The novelty of having a new baby brother hasn't worn off yet for Jayna. She still gets excited every day when she sees him, but I think she's starting to understand that he's not going anywhere. She can sort of say his name, sometimes it's really clear and sometimes it's more like "Pepla". She likes to call him "baby" or "brother", and she likes to hold his hand when he's crying and get his blanket and diapers for him. She's such a sweet sister.

This is the face she makes when he's sad or crying (usually when he's getting his diaper changed). And then she says "baby sad" or "cry".

Hospital Visitors

Kepler had lots of family come to visit him in the hospital. I think his favourite visitor was his big sister Jayna, she gave him the most kisses!

Our sweet little boy arrived safe and sound on Tuesday, June 24 at 11:27 am
He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long, pretty good size for being 3 weeks early!

We are so glad he hung in there for this long and was born so healthy with no complications. Everything happened pretty fast that morning, I was induced at 8 am and he was born 3 1/2 hours later. It all went really well and we couldn't believe he was already here.

Here are a ton of pictures from that day and the next day. We ended up coming home from the hospital the next day since we were both doing so well and it was nice to be back home. Although we had the best hospital room, it was like a hotel room with a queen size bed so Gibb could stay over too!

Jayna LOVES her little brother so much. She is obsessed with babies already, but she just knew that this baby was ours. As soon as she saw him she ran right to him and gave him a huge hug and said "aaaww cute!". She wouldn't let anyone else hold him and kept giving him kisses, it was so sweet!

He looks soooo much like Jayna as a newborn. Except his cheeks are a little bit chubbier and he has less hair and it is way lighter, some of it is totally blonde! He is such a sweet little guy and we love having a boy already!

Larger than Life!

I'm officially 35 weeks and off bedrest!! The last couple weeks were really hard, trying to take it easy when there has been so much to do. But thank goodness this baby wasn't born and now my doctor said that at this point the baby is almost fully developed and mostly just gaining weight, so if he's born it's not a huge risk and he might not even have to be in the hospital. That is such a relief, and it's great not having to be stuck in the house all day anymore. But we're still hoping he hangs in there for a couple more weeks so he will be full term and we can be a little bit more prepared.

Here are a few recent pics of my big belly. I am feeling so huge, and it feels like I'm already bigger than I was when I delivered Jayna, yikes! I think this is going to be one big boy!

Bug Catchers

Since I've been on bedrest Gibb and Jayna have totally been bonding, and she is such a Daddy's girl now. The other day he had to go run a couple errands and she was bawling and clinging to him when he left. Gibb is such a fun Dad, he always thinks of doing things with her I would never think of, like going out in the backyard to catch bugs! Edmonton is nothing like Cleveland, so there weren't very many bugs to catch yet, but they still managed to catch a couple.

The Crazy Month of May - Part 2

May was such a busy month and since I barely blogged at all I'm just going to try to give the highlights in one big loooong post.

MAY 1

We had the Senior Dinner at the Botanical Gardens. It was such a pretty place, great for taking pictures. It was a really fun night, it was good to be able to hang out for a bit and get to catch up with everyone, but a little bit sad since a lot of people we probably wouldn't see again until Grad, and then that would be the last time we saw everyone. Anyways the dinner was good and the roasts were really funny. Gibb got an award called the Dean's Award that night, for outstanding Academic and Clinical skills, good job Babe!

Our camera was broken that night, so we had to get all our friends to take pictures for us. We'll add more when we get them.

MAY 2

I went to go have lunch at Parma Hospital to say good-bye to all my old co-workers. They went all out and had a big potluck potato bar lunch that was so yummy! They also had a cake and some baby gifts for us. Which was way too much, but so typical of everyone there, they are all so sweet and thoughtful. I loved my job there and mostly because of all the awesome girls that work there. I made so many good friends that I'm going to miss so much!

MAY 6

We went out for lunch at Aladdin's to celebrate Julie's baby (who I'm so sad I won't get to see, except in pictures). It was so fun to go out together with these girls, these are the first people we met when we moved to Cleveland first year.

MAY 7

We had our last 4th year's Girl's Night Out. We went out for lunch at a tea room in Kirtland. It was the perfect place for a GNO because this place was so girly! The food was sooo good, I could have eaten 10 of their scones! I'm going to miss having so many girl's to always hang out with.


We had a Primary BBQ with the old Primary Presidency. I'm really going to miss that calling. Primary Secretary was one of my favourite callings I've had and a lot of it was because of the awesome Presidency I got to serve with! I'm going to miss these girls and our Primary!

MAY 11

Mother's Day and Gibb's parents came from Edmonton for a week. They were such a huge help to us. Gibb's Dad helped with tons of house projects and loading up the truck and they watched Jayna for us when we were in New York. I don't know what we would have done without them there.

MAY 15

My good friend from work, Sandy Price, and her daughter Rachael came over to say good-bye. It was so nice of them to come all the way over to our neck of the woods so we could see them one last time before we left. Rachael is only 3 months younger than Jayna and so we got to get together and have playdates with each other. Sandy has been such a good friend to me and we are really going to miss them!

MAY 16-17

NYC here we come! That's right, my sister got married the day before Gibb's graduation in NYC, so crazy! So Gibb and I flew out on Friday and left Jayna home with his parents. It was the first time we left her over night, and we barely ever even leave her with baby-sitter's. I was so sad to leave her, but she did really good and we were so glad that we didn't bring her, because it would not have been nearly as fun.
Friday night we had a big pizza party and played games and got to meet Jarom's family. Then on Saturday we were up bright and early to get our hair and makeup done. After the wedding we took some pictures outside the temple and then went to this really nice restaurant for a family lunch. The food was awesome and it was really laid back so we all got to talk to everyone. Then right after the lunch we changed and headed back to the airport with my parents. It was a really quick trip, but super fun and the wedding was beautiful! Congrats Mona and Jarom, we're so happy for you guys!

MAY 18

Gibb's graduation, Class of 2008!!

The day we've all been waiting for, for 4 years. Bright and early we dropped Jayna off at a friend of ours for the day (and I was so glad again that we did, because we really got to enjoy all the ceremonies). First thing in the morning they had a ceremony for the whole school where the students march in and they recognize each class separately. The speaker was Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist. After that they had a luncheon for the Dental class and we walked over to the Dental School to show my parents the building and Gibb's cube where's he's been working hard every day for the last 2 years. Then we went to the Dental School ceremony where they are presented with their degrees and Gibb officially became Dr. Fitzner!

I was so proud of Gibb all day. This has been his dream since he was little, he has always wanted to be a Dentist, and he did it! He worked so hard the last 4 years and achieved this huge accomplishment. I'm so glad that he found a career that he is passionate about and will love doing, and that will be able to support our family...(if we ever pay off the student loans ;) ).
After the ceremonies were all over we went and picked up Jayna and went out for dinner at Brio, this really good Italian restaurant. It was such a nice day, and I'm so glad we got to take the day to celebrate Gibb and that both of our parents were there to share it with us.

Then after that it was back home to finish packing up and get ready to leave the next day. I haven't been as tired as I was that night in a long time!

MAY 19

We loaded up the truck all morning and cleaned our house. Then we had to say good-bye and get on the road. We were so sad to leave Cleveland and especially our house, our first home. We have so many memories there and it was Jayna's first, and only, house. We made so many good friends in Cleveland and we'll really miss the 4 years we spent there.
We split up from there, Gibb and his Dad were driving to Edmonton and me, Jayna and my parents were on our way to Cassandra's in London.

MAY 20-23

Jayna and I got to spend the week with the Hill's and my mom in London. On Monday night when we got there it was Samantha's birthday, so we gave her her gifts and had some cake. Then the next day was her baptism, which was so nice. We're so proud of you Samantha! The rest of the week was fun hanging out with cousins, but Jayna and I were both sick with colds, I guess everything had finally caught up to us.

Poor Jayna was sooo sick the night of the baptism, and it was past bedtime at this point too. This is how she looked all night, she would just wander around with her blankie looking miserable and then once in a while she would sit down and almost pass out, she was so tired!

MAY 23

Jayna and I officially moved to Edmonton!

What a crazy month we've had! That was really long, and probably boring, but that's what we've been up to the last few weeks. We are slowly but surely getting settled in Edmonton, but are already missing Cleveland, our old house and friends!
