My Baby Girl

Jayna is at the age where she just wants to be a big girl. She likes to do what Gibb and I are doing and she wants to be independent! She likes to do things she knows she's not supposed to just to see what we'll do or to prove that she can do whatever she wants! And she's also started this evil little giggle that is a sure sign that she's doing something naughty on purpose. It's a good thing she is so cute!

On the other hand I think that she is still my baby girl, and I'm so not ready to let go of that yet. I want to snuggle her and carry her and baby her. And sometimes it makes me sad thinking that she will be the big sister in a few months!! I know I'll always think of her as my baby, and now I'm starting to understand why my mom always says that I'm still her baby girl!

Jayna trying to run away from Gibb, her favourite escape route is upstairs...

and then straight to her crib where she grabs her blankie to snuggle with
She knows she's only allowed to have it at nap and bed time which
probably makes it all the more enticing!

Cold Winter Days

There's not a lot to do inside at the end of a long Cleveland Winter. Jayna has some favourite things that keep her happy at home.

Jayna loves babies. She loves hugging and kissing, feeding and walking around with her babies. She is so ready to be a big sister, she likes to put her finger in my belly button and say "baby".

Jayna loves bags and purses, she puts anything that slightly resembles a purse on her arm and then goes to the door and says "bye-bye". She's probably wishing that we were actually leaving the house for once.

Jayna loves staring out the window, especially if there are any dogs, cats, birds or squirrels to look at. Again, she's probably wishing we could leave the house more often.

We can't wait for spring!!

WICKED

I went to Wicked yesterday with a bunch of friends for a girls day out. It was so amazing, I LOVED it! I wasn't sure if I was going to love it that much because I had heard it talked up so much that I thought my expectations were too high, but it was even better than I thought. It was so much fun to go out with the girls, and just get out of the house since Gibb has been studying non-stop for boards this week-end. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen, I just wish Gibb had come too... next time!

Twilight Party!!

My friend Tia, hosted an amazing Twilight Dinner Party last night! We all wore red and black and got to dress up a bit. She had gone all out with the decorations and atmosphere, as you'll see. We had a delicious 5 course meal and then Tia had put together a slide show quiz for all 3 books. It was such a fun night!

Monkeys Love Bananas

Jayna is our little Monkey! She loves climbing on everything. Today she learned how to climb out of her crib and landed head first on the hard wood floor. We think she was more scared than hurt, hopefully there's no permanent damage! But she did get a pretty good goose egg, although you can't really tell from these pictures.

A trip to the Children's Museum this morning made everything all better.

I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going, I feel like we just barely found out we were having another baby and now we're already half way there! I was so surprised when I already started showing this week-end, but then I was looking on line and realized that the baby is already the size of a banana, that's pretty big! We're going to have another crazy monkey climbing around before we know it!

Bookworm

Jayna loves books and she's finally getting to the point where she'll actually let us read to her instead of just turning pages. She carries books around the house all the time. Recently she discovered paperbacks and thinks they are so much better than board books. Her favourite book right now: Acceptable Risk by Robin Cook. She's pretty advanced for her age ;)

First Haircut

I finally took Jayna to get her haircut today, after growing a mullet for about a month now. My friend Julie cut it and Jayna actually did pretty good considering how sensitive her head is. She just ate a lot of food in the short amount of time it took. Gibb didn't want me to cut her hair because it's finally starting to get long and we can put it in pigtails now which is so cute! But I definitely think it was past time.

Bubble Bath Gone Wrong

One more thing to add to the list of things Jayna is scared of... Bubbles!

We thought it would be fun for her to have a bubble bath, but she was terrified, despite all our attempts to show her how fun the bubbles were.

Chatterbox

Jayna has been talking so much lately. She jabbers all day long and it seems like she says a new word almost every day. Today she was especially talkative and was even saying 2 words together so I had to write down some of the things she's been saying lately.

I went in to get her from her nap today and I said "Hi Jayna" and she said "Hi Mommy!"

Jayna says my name a lot during the day. Today she kept saying "Mommy, mommy, mommy" until I would answer her, and then she would jabber something to me and laugh really hard like she just told me a hilarious joke.

She was looking out the window with Gibb (one of her favourite pastimes) and she said "Bye-bye doggy"

Gibb was reading her a bed time story and he asked her where the rubber duckie was and she pointed to it and said"Right there!"

These are some of the newer words she's added to her vocabulary in the past month or so:
  • grandma
  • outside
  • bird
  • more
  • Dubai
  • yummy
  • shoes
  • boo
  • meow
  • all gone
  • yeah
  • amen
  • waah (she pretends her baby is crying)
  • thank you
She's also started calling Gibb and I "daddy" and "mommy" occasionally instead of "da-da" and "ma-ma". But I think her favourite words to say are still "bye-bye", "woof woof" and "NO"!! And I'm still so proud that her first word was "Mama"!!!
