Daddy Daughter Date
This is all I could really understand:
"popcorn and licorice...Barbie...special date...so hilarious...Buzz dancing...Daddy...scary part, but not too scary...movies...Kepler didn't get to come...popcorn...it was so hilarious"
I'm pretty sure the translation is that she had fun!

July 1
We had such a fun day today, it was exactly what a holiday should be, in my opinion. A laid back day with tons of friends, family and food around, perfect!
First thing this morning we headed downtown for the parade.
Jayna and Kepler with Cassidy, one of my Activity Day girls, we love Cassidy!
My favourite part of the parade, was right as it was starting and Jayna got so excited. She started jumping up and down and waving her flag and yelling "Yay Canada!! Hooray!" over and over! I love how patriotic she is, but the funny thing is, she's American. We still haven't gotten her Canadian citizenship yet.

We went home and had family nap time and then spent the rest of the day out in the yard.
Our kids love our flag (as they should). They love pointing out Canada flags whenever we're driving around town. Our family 2 years ago on Canada Day. I feel a little sentimental about July 1 now, because it reminds so much of right after Kepler was born. He was 1 week old here.

June
Whenever Kepler needs his diaper changed, Jayna changes Micky too
Jayna learning to write some letters in her name
The kids loving Keper's birthday present from Aunti Jo
Always lots of park days with the Pratts
Kyla, Jayna, Emma
Petra and Kepler
Kepler loves this yo-yo and got really attached to it for some reason. He wanted to bring it with us everywhere and walk it around like a puppy on a leash.
Every time we go to Mac Island the kids have to peek in the window and see the progress on the pool. We can't wait for it to open!
Date Night!
One of the great things about Fort Mac is that we have lots of good baby-sitters. The down side to this is that there's not much to do here. The movie theatre only has 6 screens, so by default we usually don't want to see or have already seen at least half of the movies playing. And there aren't that many restaurants to choose from either, you can only go to Moxie's so many times...
So when Gibb and I heard that the Barenaked Ladies were coming here, we decided to get tickets. I know what you might be thinking, neither of us are exactly the hugest BNL fans, but it was something fun to do on a date. And it was SO much fun!
When we first got there the opening band, Jessie Farrell, was still playing. Gibb's not exactly the biggest country fan and he affectionately referred to her as "Jessie Swift or whatever" all night. We set up our lawn chairs with the rest of the "old people" and were happy that we got a decent spot.
The first half of the show we were probably just as entertained with watching other people dance as we were by the band. Our top 3 favourites were:
- Blue sweater lady - an older lady in a bright blue hoodie going crazy, dancing and singing all by herself all night long
- Wife beater guy - this guy was standing up amidst all the "old people" sitting in the lawn chairs dancing away, (our favourite move of his was the fist pump) and the reason he wasn't up at the front was because his pregnant girlfriend/wife was sitting calmly in a lawn chair beside him
- Camera man - he was part of the crew and in between snapping shots of the band he was swaying and singing evry word to every song, we thought he might start crying at one point
Then about half way through BNL playing we realized that we're not lame old people yet, so we went up front and had some real fun! Don't worry, we can dish it out and we can take it. So here's some of our sweet dance moves for your own entertainment!
They put on a really fun, entertaining show and did some hilarious free styling and really tailored the show to Fort McMurray! Of course they played all their classic songs and their new song that was on the Bachelorette this season! It was one of the best dates we've had in a long time!

My Baby Boy is 2
Today was Kepler's 2nd Birthday. It was a pretty low-key day since we already had a Mickey Party for him with Gibb's family a couple weeks ago.
When he first woke up Jayna and I went in and sang Happy Birthday to him. He kept asking us to sing it again and again. He could not get enough of us singing Happy Birthday to him all day! I think he even sang to himself a couple times.
And here is 2 years later.
He still loves to snuggle!
He talks in sentences most of the time and is trying to use his manners. Whenever we're in the car and he wants to tell me something he says "Excuse me Mommy, excuse me!!" until I answer him and then he says "Look, a puppy...or firetruck...or bird!" or whatever has caught his eye.
He's really social and remembers most of his (and Jayna's) friends by name.
He's obsessed with Mickey Mouse! Ever since our Disneyworld trip he just can't get enough of everything Mickey.
He's starting to become more aware (and self conscious) of when he needs his diaper changed. If I ask him if he's poopy, he says "Mickey's poopy." and then he goes and lays down beside Mickey and they both get their diaper changed together. Sometimes I change Mickey, sometimes he does and sometimes Jayna does. Then after we're done he always tells us "Mickey's all clean!"
Happy Birthday to our sweet little boy, we love you lots!
