Mama, Hi!

Jayna has started saying so many more words right now, it's so cute! She can say: "mama", "dada", "hi", "bye", "yeah", and "woof, woof". We love it when she talks, but sometimes I wonder how much she actually understands and if she really knows what she's saying or if she's just imitating Gibb and I.
Then this morning I walked into Jayna's room to get her from her crib and she was standing in her usual position: Standing in the crib facing the door holding onto the crib slats, Gibb and I always think she looks like she's a prisoner in jail when she stands like that. Anyways I walked in and Jayna said "Mama! Hi!"!!!!
I can't explain how it made me feel, so excited and proud and amazed and wanting to cry all at the same time. And I said "Hi Jayna! Did you have a good sleep?". The same thing I always say when I go to get her from her crib. Id' say this is a pretty great start to our day.

Apple Picking

Today Gibb got out of clinic early, so we decided to go apple picking. We have been having the hottest fall weather, so it was almost 30C today! Gibb had never been apple picking before. In elementary school we used to go every year on a field trip, and I've also gone every year that we've been here in Cleveland. I love apples and I love going to pick apples because you can get all the good kinds that you can't usually get in the grocery store. I think I'm going to make a big pan of apple crisp with these apples!

Jayna loved the pumpkins!

She finally learned how to clap!

Jayna loves playing with leaves, I think it's because she likes the crunchy sound they make

Big Girl Car Seat

Now that Jayna is 1 and (almost) 20 lbs. it's time to put her in a forward facing car seat. We shopped around so much for this seat, I really hope she likes it. Gibb insisted that we get her the pink car seat, even though it is so not practical, because it was so cute! (I'm not kidding, his words, not mine!) I wasn't crazy about the pink, but it's so rare for Gibb to actually have such a strong opinion about this sort of thing I couldn't say no. I think Jayna has Gibb wrapped around her finger, just a little bit...

Today was the first day she rode in her car seat, and I think she would have liked it except that the sun was in her eyes the whole way.

September 2007

Jayna turned 1 year old this month! She has grown up so much. She weighs 19 lbs. 9 oz. and is 29.5 inches tall (she had a major growth spurt). She is starting to talk now and it is the cutest thing! She says: "mama", "dada", and "hi", she shakes her head "yes" and "no", points to things, and once in a while if she's in the mood she might do the sign for "more". She loves spending time with Gibb and I, and would rather be in the same room as us, than play with any of her toys. She'll crawl as fast as she can to follow us from room to room. Jayna loves music and dancing, playing outside, looking out the window, reading stories and being chased by Daddy.

Having fun with her birthday present

I'm One!

Now that Jayna's all grown up we decided we needed to put her to work

Edmonton

We went to Edmonton to visit Gibb's family, it was fun to see everyone again. This might be the last time we go visit before we move there. Jayna had fun playing with her cousin Luke, and seeing Great Grandma Gibb again.

Great Grandparents

Jayna and I took a road trip down to Barnwell, Alberta to go and visit my Grandma and Grandpa Jensen, Jayna's Great Grandparents. I hadn't seen my grandparents in 4 years. It was so good to see them again! Jayna was pretty shy and we were only there for 2 days, so she just started warming up to them by the time we were leaving. The second night we were there all my Aunts, Uncles and cousins came over for dinner. We have such a great family, I'm excited that once we move back to Edmonton we'll be able to see them more often.

Jayna loved playing in Grandma's basket

Jayna in the old red high chair, my grandparents got this high chair for my mom when she was a baby, and used for it every baby since then. I'm sure my mom probably used it for us too when we stayed at there.

On the way to and from Barnwell we stopped in Calgary to visit my old roomie and one of my best friends Jody. It was so fun to see her again and her 2 kids, Ella and Jack. Jayna had lots of fun playing there in the hottest play room ever! (I'm so sad we didn't take any pictures though!)

1st Birthday Party

We had Jayna's 1st Birthday Party this week-end in Edmonton. She invited: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Jo, Uncle Dave, Luke, Uncle Brett and Aunt Jenny. We had tacos and homemade salsa and of course birthday cake!

Jayna loved it when everyone was singing Happy Birthday to her!

Jayna's first taste of cake

I'm pretty sure she loved it

I want some more cake!
