The Crazy Month of May

It has been so long since I posted, with good reason. I can't remember a crazier, busier, more stressful month with so many fun things packed into it. We are finally into our new place in Edmonton with all our stuff here safe and sound, which is a huge relief and also adds tons more stress with all the unpacking and organizing to do. Unfortunately all this responsibility of unpacking is up to Gibb right now because I am supposed to be on bed rest. I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and I guess this crazy month has finally caught up to me and the baby. I'm already dilated and having contractions and so the doctor wants me resting so this baby won't come for at least another week, hopefully longer.

Poor Gibb has been doing everything including listening to me complain about how frustrating it is to have to sit there and not unpack any boxes. He's probably thinking, I'd love to be the one sitting there and not unpacking! Gibb's family has been so awesome and helpful and I don't know what we would have done without them this week! So much for my plan to have every single box unpacked and decoration up before the baby comes, I'll be happy just to have our clothes unpacked now!

I guess one good thing about all this is that I might actually have a chance to catch up on blogging! I don't have any pictures on our computer yet, but when I do I'll have lost to post them from: the senior dinner, girl's night out, good-byes to friends, Mona's wedding in NYC, Gibb's graduation, visiting family in London, Samantha's baptism and maybe more...

Sneaky Bandit

WARNING, ANIMALS WERE HARMED DURING THE PHOTOS DEPICTED HERE. ANYONE WITH A LOVE FOR MANGY RABID ANIMALS SHOULD READ NO FURTHER.
We had a home inspection and the inspector checked every square inch of the house including the chimney. As the unsuspecting inspector peered up into the darkness of the very seldom used chimney, he suddenly noticed 2 glowing yellow eyes staring back at him through the darkness! I heard a yell and footsteps running out of the room. He came to me and said, "there's something living in your chimney!" Well I quickly called the critter control and a very brave man came by. He climbed up onto the roof and asked me to light a small fire. Well I didn't want to fool around so I lit all the spare newspaper we had left. The intruder didn't like that at all and scampered up and out of the chimney, narrowly missing the noose waiting at the opening. The raccoon was cornered at the edge of the roof contemplating his odds of surviving the 2 story drop when suddenly the stealthy professional noosed him. He hissed with anger and thrashed to no avail. Soon he would be on his way back to the wild frontier or the gas chamber (I didn't really ask).

Life according to Jayna

Whenever we ask Jayna what her name is she says: Me!
She can say her name, she says it "Naynee", but not when we ask her to.

Whenever we ask Jayna how old she is she holds up one finger but says: Two!

Whenever we ask Jayna what a cow says she says: Booo!
Today I asked her what a ghost says if a cow says boo and the first time she said "Moo!". I have no idea how she came up with that. Then after that she just kept saying "Booo"!

This is Jayna trying to make a frowny face like Gibb. She could only barely hold it for a couple seconds and then she would burst out laughing.

Outside

We love being outside right now. All the flowers are coming out in our yard and it looks so pretty. Definitely one of the things we'll miss about Cleveland!

Jayna likes to explore our yard and finds all kinds of treasures to collect. Ever since we planted a few flowers last week she loves digging in the dirt.

First Ice Cream Cone

Today was 31 cent scoop day at Baskin Robbins so we decided to treat Jayna to her first ice cream cone. Her flavour of choice: cotton candy!

School is Cool

Jayna wishes she could go to school like Daddy. She likes to wear his backpack around the house and pretend to go Bye-bye. When we ask her where she's going she says "cool".

Reasons to Celebrate!

1. Gibb passed his board exam!

We actually (finally) found this out a couple weeks ago. It took the full 6 weeks to get the results and by the last couple weeks Gibb was waiting by the mailbox every day dying to get his scores. He studied so hard for this test, and it was a really stressful week-end, so finding that out was a huge relief.

2. Gibb finished his last day of school today...

FOREVER!! I can't believe it's really all over. Now we just wait around for 3 weeks until Graduation with nothing to do...(Oh, except sell our house, pack, and go to NYC for my sister's wedding, but no big deal). The first thing he said today when he came home was "The next patient I work on will have to pay me". I didn't realize how excited I was for him to be done, but when he came home today I felt so relieved. Jayna asks for Daddy all day long lately, and when I ask her where Daddy is, she says "Daddy school". Now she'll have to learn to say "Dr. Dad" and "work"!!!

Baby Names

Coming up with a name is probably one of my least favourite things about having a baby. It is almost impossible for Gibb and I to find names we like. Well, actually Gibb likes lots of names, but I have a hard time choosing a name I would want to use. We haven't had any real options for this baby until this week. I really wanted to have some names we liked, even though we still have 3 more months. But I was so frustrated with not being able to find any names that I loved, I just wanted someone else to come up with a name I loved for me. But since that probably wasn't going to happen I searched the internet forever one night to come up with some we liked. We have 4 of our favourites now, but are still open to any suggestions anyone has, I would love to hear your ideas. Let us know which one you like best on our poll!

Children's Museum!

The Children's Museum has been one of our favourite places to go this winter. It's the perfect place to get out of the house and stay out of the cold. Jayna never gets sick of it, and she definitely has her favourites, including the water table, any and every steering wheel, grocery shopping and the babies. We got to take Gibb with us since he was on Spring Break and show him how fun it is!

We'll definitely miss this place when we move!

Shadow

Jayna is my little shadow right now. She wants to do everything I do...put on make-up, brush her hair, wear my shoes, carry a purse and keys...you get the idea. Usually I try to do most of the housework when Jayna is napping so she won't be in the way. But today she saw me sweeping the floor and she HAD to do it too. She swept the floors for about 15 minutes and thought it was so fun! It makes me a little worried about what bad habits I have that she'll want to copy too!
